PRODUCT INFO
Gingko biloba is the last remaining relative of the Ginkgoales, a group of ancient plants inhabiting earth during the Permian, almost 300 million years ago. The oldest fossilized Gingko can be found 51.5 million years ago.
It is an impressive and eye-catching deciduous tree species, easily recognized by its unique leaves. The foliage is an attractive bright green, fan-shaped, leathery, and has two distinctive lobes. The leaves turn a stunning, bright yellow colour in the fall.
These trees are long-lived tree species, able to grow over 50 ft tall and can live up to 3000 years. They make excellent shade trees. They are easy to grow and low maintenance. Commonly used in urban and residential areas because they are tolerant to heat, air pollution and salt toxicity.
Ginkgo biloba is a dioecious species. A male and a female plant are necessary for fruit production. The seedlings sold are obtained from seeds. Seedlings can either be male or female.
